Local flying. With a family and the resulting time constraints, I rarely have the opportunity to actually go somewhere. So most of my flying is local. I'll grab one of my kids and sneak in a flight hour whan I can. Half hour out, turn around, and come back. A landing 50 miles away, maybe a fifty mile triangle, and back. Often it's north up the lakeshore, past the city, with a turn around near Waukegon. Check out a few local shots below.

Short final for 27 Short final approach for runway 27. This shot was taken in January, 2000 and shows a reasonable amount of snow cover.
Cessna 6101Q dug out of the snow. Cessna 6101Q has been a mainstay at Associated Air for years. I've been flying it from the beginning and it flies as great as ever.
Cessna 6101Q instrument panel. A quick peek at the instrument panel of 01Q. All of the necessary VFR basics.
Thornton Quarry The Thornton Quarry is by far the biggest man-made hole in the ground that I have ever seen.
Cessna 150 front view. Cessna N6557G, a 1970 150 model. As simple as they come. While not terribly fast, it has wonderful local flying utility.
Cessna 150 instrument panel. As you can see, 57G isn't jacked with all that crazy instrumentation.
Cessna 150 parked at Morris Municipal, IL. Here we are parked at Morris Airport in front of Runway 47 Cafe. They have great hospitality and even better food!
